About Butte & Anaconda

History of the Butte Mining District

Butte-Anaconda NHL Registration: 774K PDF, 174-page narrative and references

Butte's Summit Valley lies about 5550 feet above sea level. Historic Uptown Butte (the "Butte Hill") is about 200 feet higher, and Anaconda is about 200 feet lower. Although June is typically one of the rainiest months, total precipitation is low and snow is possible every month of the year. The average mid-June high-low temperature range is 71ºF to 41ºF.

Montana in general and Butte in particular are casual in terms of dress.
